Hardware Insertion Machine Eliminates Damaged and Rejected Parts
J. E. Soares, a precision sheet metal fabricator in Belgrade, Montana recently added Haeger’s 824 WindowTouch® for their insertion area which already was equipped with three other Haeger insertion machines. The machine was added for a specific, very hardware intensive job, but according to Martie Howell, the supervisor of Soares hardware area, “the WindowTouch could do so much more than he ever expected.”

The WindowTouch has proved to be a perfect fit for our fastener insertion department, and it has exceeded expectations. Our production has increased and now jobs are being done in half the time it took before. We have cut costs thus turning our hardware insertion area into a profit center. I only wished we would have purchased it sooner.

The ability to insert 4 different fasteners in one operation using the OneTouch machine has considerably reduced our work in process and helped maintain our KANBAN ordering system at the same time, which has made us more competitive in the export market.

We use the OneTouch whenever possible for our insertion work because of the reduced setup time and the ease of programming. For many of our jobs, we've gone from multiple part handlings to a single handling, which has had a tremendous impact on our productivity.

Most of our insertion jobs have more than one type of fastener. The Haeger OneTouch has allowed us to dramatically reduce our material handling and increase our productivity.

It used to take us 8.65 minutes per part to insert all of the hardware in one of our main electrical panels. With the Haeger OneTouch we¹ve reduced our processing time per part to 3.51 minutes, a productivity increase of 246%.
